Rotations

Rotations

At the beginning of the program, each doctoral student who successfully completed the regular IMPRS application procedure, starts with a training phase in research groups within the IMPRS. The aim of the training phase is to familiarize newly recruited candidates with the IMPRS and vice versa. In addition, important methods and techniques can be learned for better performance in the upcoming doctoral project.

The rotations are taken consecutively before the start of the thesis and should be done in two of the participating institutions, ideally in Kiel and in Plön. One rotation usually takes place in the lab where the PhD thesis is planned. The location for the second rotation is chosen together with the supervisor so that the interests and skills of the student are complemented. Based on two reports and one oral presentation the performance of the student will be evaluated by the IMPRS faculty.
