Order & Borrow

Here you will find information about your user account, interlibrary loan, borrowing/lending and forms to order articles and books or suggest new books to buy for our collection.

Using the library

The library of the MPI for Evolutionary Biology is a library containing specialized scientific literature.

We are a reference library and only staff of the institute can borrow books.
For external visitors no lending is possible, but they can use library materials here locally.

The library holdings are organised according to an individual systematic. The location and book signatures can be found via our catalogue (link).

Books, series and journals in the library are freely accessible. The library does not lend whole issues of journals, but you are welcome to take photocopies of the articles needed. The magazine contains older literature and journals. Holdings in the library are openly accessible for the institutes staff.

Any questions?

Please don't hesitate to contact us.

Ordering books and articles

You searched the local institute catalogue and did not find what you had been searching for? Did you take a look in the E-book selection?

If there is a book you think we should buy for our collection, send us a suggestion.

Information about User Account

Come for a visit to the library and I will registrate you with a username and password. You should immediately change to a personal password.

Extending your loans:

Go to "borrower information" and register with your ID-number and password. Under "loans" you will find the list of books that you have borrowed. Please mark the titles that you want to extend and then click on the "Renew" button. You can extend the time for each book up to three times, a fourth time the librarian can do it. Then the book has to be returned to the library. If you lost your ID-number, please ask for it in the library. As a rule you can keep books for up to half a year (guests and undergraduates four weeks). If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask the librarian.
