The MPI broadcasts the TEDxCERN conference live
On Saturday, November 5th, the Max Planck Institute in Plön will broadcast the TEDxCERN conference live. The event takes place from 14:00 - 18:30 h and the research center invites all interested persons, whether young or old, to join this event. Everyone can decide whether he or she wants to have a look for only 10 minutes or if they want to stay during the whole time of the conference. The lectures will be held in English, the entrance is free.
On Saturday, November 05th, 2016, the European Center for Nuclear Research (CERN) will present the fourth edition of the TEDxCERN conference. TED stands for Technology, Entertainment, Design.
The English event takes place at CERN in Switzerland, but is broadcasted live via Webcast video all over the world. The Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Biology in Plön participates in the transfer and invites all interested persons to their lecture hall from 14:00 - 18:30 h. Whether you want see a specific lecture or you want to experience the entire event, you are always welcome. There is no entrance free!
TED conferences are mainly known because the best lectures of the conferences are distributed freely through the TED Talks website. Worldwide, these videos have been accessed more than three billion times. The conferences focus on the areas of technology, entertainment, design, business, culture, art and science.
The title of this year's TEDxCERN conference is "Ripples of curiosity".
Great ideas do not stop, they move steadily. Breakthroughs can force us and society to rethink our established practices. But revolutions often begin as small waves of curiosity that grow and evolve before they may conquer the world. The basic idea of the conference is that ideas in science, technology and education spread like waves - they grow and fuse over time and new waves of change are emerging.
The speakers report on their stories, how their research has begun as a small wave, as a passion and fascination, and has become an ever-increasing wave, until today exactly this research has changed our worldview.
