Kiel Life Science honours Dr Nikhil Sharma with Postdoc Award
At its annual meeting on 20–21 November, Kiel Life Science (KLS) – the life science research focus of Kiel University (CAU) – presented this year’s scientific awards. The event first highlighted the most successful early-career researchers within KLS, who received the Kiel Life Science Postdoc Awards 2025, each endowed with €6,000. These annual awards recognise outstanding contributions to life science research at CAU and its partner institutions.
We are delighted that Dr Nikhil Sharma, a researcher in the Theoretical Biology group led by Professor Arne Traulsenat the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Biology, has been selected as one of this year’s awardees.
Nikhil’s work focuses on mathematical models that help predict long-term population dynamics and deepen our understanding of fundamental evolutionary processes. His research on Evolutionary Graph Theory (EGT) has been particularly celebrated, revealing how spatial structures can profoundly shape natural selection and influence evolutionary trajectories.
This accolade highlights the excellence of his contributions and underscores the strong role our institute plays in advancing theoretical evolutionary biology. We warmly congratulate Nikhil on this well-deserved recognition.
