Main Focus

Prof. Lampert directed the former Department of Physiological Ecology from 1984-2006. He is still researching at the institute. Especially he is trying to demonstrate the development of Daphnia into a model organism of aquatic ecology.

Born on September 20, 1941, in Oppeln. Study of biology, doctorate Freiburg Univ. (1971), German Habilitation in limnology Freiburg Univ. (1977), lecturer Frankfurt Univ. (1977), head of a junior research group of the Max Planck Society in Plön (1980), Director and Scientific Member at the Max Planck Institute of Limnology (since 1984), Associate Professor (1986) and Honorary Professor (1996) of Kiel Univ, Emeritus Scientific Member (from October 2006).
