Academic Partnership
Building a reserach network on Moonstruck Midges and beyond
We are inviting researchers of all disciplines to become collaboration partners on our Moonstruck Midges project. Typical roles for collaborators are listed below, but we are open to any form of collaboration. So if you have other ideas or interests, feel free to get in touch as well.
What are the typical roles of collaboration partners?
- Spread the word about the Moonstruck Midges project to colleagues, citizen scientists, naturalists and everyone else in your network and/or geographic area. We provide information material to do so.
- Serve as a national contact point: Receive samples from other collectors in your country, store them and ship them to us in bulk.
- Be our official collaboration partner for obtaining Nagoya permits and other permits we may need. Help us navigate the authorities in your country.
- You are very welcome to contribute to the actual research. This can include (but is not limited to): going for field sampling yourself, doing non-destructive DNA extraction and DNA barcoding, or mounting and morphological description or documentation of samples. In the framework of such a collaboration, we insist on publishing together, just as we guarantee that you will be an author on all publications emerging from the samples you have handled.
