Abstract:

The Nagoya Protocol on Access and Benefit Sharing (ABS) for the utilization of genetic resources still appear to be enigmatic terms and concepts to many natural scientists. Although the Nagoya Protocol entered into force in October 2014, many natural scientists are still unaware of the practical implications this has on their research agendas. I will briefly (re) introduce what the Nagoya Protocol is, clarify some general misunderstandings regarding what type of research falls within the scope of the Nagoya Protocol and how we could work together towards implementing and complying with the protocol regulations.
