At our institute, we offer two positions for Biologielaborant/in training every two years, typically in the fall. These training positions are regularly advertised, and the application deadline is announced well in advance.
The standard duration of the training is 3.5 years, with the possibility of shortening it to 3 years for exceptional performance. As not all techniques required for the training are performed in our labs, the first year involves comprehensive basic training at the Borstel Research Center. During this period, trainees reside cost-free in the center's apartments.
From the second year onwards, the training continues at our institute, focusing on laboratory operations and techniques used in field experiments. Throughout the training, apprentices attend vocational school in Lübeck. A midterm examination takes place towards the end of the second year, and the training concludes with a theoretical and practical final exam. Trainees receive remuneration according to the TvöD scale.
We welcome applicants with a secondary school diploma or higher, emphasizing strong performance in Biology, Chemistry, and Mathematics. Given the institute's diverse international staff, applicants should feel comfortable with the English language.
