Prestigious prize for junior scientist at the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Biology in Plön

Young scientist Hye Jin Park receives renowned Korean Physicist Award

The junior scientist Dr. Hye Jin Park from the Max Planck Institute in Plön received the prestigious "Young statistical physicist award" in Daejeon, Korea. She is the first woman considered for this prize.

Dr. Hye Jin Park received this award for her scientific work applying statistical physics approaches to real-world problems such as relaxation of conflict in the social network, the emergence of cooperation, and extinction of types in ecology.

Since 2014, the Korean Physics Society has been awarding this highly-acclaimed prize to young scientists in the field of statistical physics. The award comes with a 1 million Won (about 750 euros) purse.

Hye Jin Park is currently working as a postdoc in the Department of Evolutionary Theory at the MPI of Evolutionary Biology. She completed her scientific education as a physicist at Sungkyunkwan University in Seoul, South Korea.
